Ever Lane the Japanese Goweave Front-zip Dress Black

(ENG only) After banning myself from shopping and not buying anything for 6 months, I recently decided to introduce some new items in my wardrobe. I had a few things on my wishlist already and when Everlane kindly reached out to me to send me a couple of products, I was very happy to welcome their fairly new Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit into my wardrobe.

Overall I am a big fan of jumpsuits: they are flattering for my body type (or to any body type, I think), they can be easily styled in different ways, they make any outfit look polished and nice like a dress would but they are comfy like wearing your favorite pair of leisure pants. And they make getting ready 100% fuss free, as they are a once piece that can be an outfit on its own already.

For someone like me who has a fairy small wardrobe, selecting the right pieces is essential: fit, quality, style, versatility and overall eco-sustainability of a garment are the core points I keep in mind when selecting new clothes, wether I shop second hand or new from ethical sustainable brands. I was very curious about Everlane jumpsuits as these are a style that they brought out this year and seemed to make very happy lots of Everlane enthusiasts so far. I can easily imagine this black jumpsuit becoming one of my wardrobe staples, as it really can be dressed up or down and it can suit plenty of styles and wearing occasions.

The Japanese GoWeave Essential Jumpsuit is made of a very cool fabric that is lightweight, wrinkle resistant and very flowy and drapey. It has a very classic yet modern design, being slightly oversized and wide legged without looking slouchy though. It can be cinched at the waistline with the fabric belt, giving the garment a whole different vibe and a more fitted, polished look. As soon as I tried it on, babe looked at me and asked "you look gorgeous, it looks like it was tailor made!". Now, who doesn't love a compliment? 😉 I was afraid that a size 8 wouldn't fit me on my hips, but I'm happy I did order a size 8 as a 10 would have been too big for me (when in doubt, always check the Everlane size guide, it is incredibly helpful!!). It hides that tiny bit of tummy that I have and overall wraps my body nicely. Unfortunately I am not the tallest girl out there, so it looks longer on me than it does on the model on the Everlane website. Still haven't decided if I'll get it altered, as the length doesn't bother me too much but I'd like the hem to sit a bit higher on my ankle. The thing I'm not particularly enthusiast about is the back zipper, which makes it a little hard to zip it and unzip it by yourself (I can still make it by myself without any help, but maybe a side zipper would have been more practical). Due to the very wrinkle resistant fabric, I can easily imagine myself traveling with this too, as it will definitely survive my travel backpack test. So overall the first impression is 10/10!!

I decided to style this beautiful jumpsuit in 5 different ways to give you some style inspiration and show you how versatile a black jumpsuit can be. I like the fact that these are the first 5 outfits that came to my mind but I could have made so many more combinations. I decided to make a couple of more dressed up, elegant combinations and some more casual, relaxed, everyday looks that are more dressed down. All the outfits can be worn in or easily adapted to a spring/summer like weather.
